Killing queries in Teradata

What is a means or method to kill inactive sessions for application using Teradata. Our database sessions do not end and remain in inactive status even if the users log out from the application and we are required to kill it manually.

I don't think this should be happening. This looks like a case that the application is not closing the DB connections properly. Does the same thing happen if you connect via SQL assistant or so ?. What is the application built on ? (ie Java/JDBC ..etc )

The application is built on Siebel. we have to inform the DBA's to kill the queries by giving session ID etc but do we have any alternate methods to solve this issue or else do you think it could be the DB connections with the application that is causing the problem.

Re: Killing queries in Teradata

I am suspecting that application is not closing it's connections. Does the sessions still exist in DB even after the application is closed ? Anyways killing DB sessions manually is not a good habit, check with the application folks if they are closing the connections properly and then open an incident with Teradata Support.
