Re: Introducing Aster Lens

Since Aster Lens was installed on the Queen, there is extra work that must be done.  Unfortunately, Aster Express 60 does not appear to be configured correctly. See 5.10 Aster Analytics Foundation User Guide on how to configure Aster Lens when installed on the Queen (http://info.teradata).  Note the directions in the User Guide appear to be for a 2 Worker ncluster whereas the Aster 60 Express is for a 1 Worker cluster so there may be some issues here.

Personally, I would uninstall from the Queen and then install on the Worker.  It's much simpler this way. I also notice they mention in the User Guide that you should not install Aster Lens on the Queen except for demo purposes.  That sounds like good advice.

Regardless of where you install Aster Lens, you always point to the Queen's IP address (in my case, 192.168.100.100) in the asterlens.properties file.

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

Hi,

Eventually I managed to make Aster Lens works on the Queen node (by default on version 6) using the following URL:

http://192.168.100.100:10/asterlens/portal/welcome

The issue was an error with the browser: Error SSL.

So I included https://192.168.100.100 as a trusted site with the option 'Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone' unticked.

I hope it helps :)

Regards and thanks for your support

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

I do not have nPathViz and CFilterViz. How do I make Aster Lens work? Where to get these two functions from?

Thanks

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

It's in the file AsterAnalytics_AsterAnalytics__indep_indep.beehivemain.zip.

Assuming you have permissions, you can download from the following URL:

http://distribution-srvr.asterdata.com:9070/release?release=r39664aa

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

Thanks Mark. I got that working.

After installing just CfilterViz.zip and NpathViz.zip from the distribution you provided, I reinstalled AsterLens. The first time the examples did not install correctly, even though I set up the asterlens.properties IP to 192.168.100.100.

But then, I went to AsterLens/Examples folder. I checked the examples-script.sql from there. Then I uninstalled examples and reinstalled using script from the same Examples folder. Then I restarted Aster Lens from the main AsterLens folder. And after refreshing, browsing 192.168.100.100:10 brought me to the updated page full of installed examples.

Thanks.

I downloaded AsterAnalytics_Beta__indep_indep.05.10.00.00.zip from following link but it does not conation either Npathviz or Cfilterviz

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

Thanks Mark,

I am getting the following error, do I need any special access to this server?

The server at distribution-srvr.asterdata.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventingGoogle Chrome from accessing the network.

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing such a comprehensive detail regarding Aster Lens. I am a DBA and question comes to me from my client side that the users created on Aster database doesn't work on Aster Lens (I means the website for Aster lens).

so do we have to enable/create the users for Aster Lens additionally and how?

Re: Introducing Aster Lens

Actually instead of a global logon you can setup LDAP so every user has their own login credentials.  However at this point, I would switch over to AppCenter.  It's a lot easier to configure from LDAP...
