Doubt in connectivity with Java and TD

The project I am working has a java front end and it connects to TD.

Now they claims that when they were using mysql or oracle and if the connection with DB goes down , Java automatically connects to the DB when its up.

But in TD they are forced to restart the Java application to establish the connection with Teradata again.

Any idea why its happening, or any thing we can do to prevent it in connections at Teradata side(ODBC configuration)

Re: Doubt in connectivity with Java and TD

You post contains no details. Is this a standalone Java application, or does it run in an application server? Which application server, and what version?

And why is this a concern in the first place? How often is the Teradata Database going down?

its not too often, but this is to prevent in case when it goes down(down means lose connection in between)

Since you haven't provided any details about the application, it is difficult to offer help.

The Teradata JDBC Driver provides connection parameters to enable the Teradata Session Reconnect feature.

The feature is documented in the Teradata JDBC Driver User Guide here on Developer Exchange. The relevant links are listed below:
