Unable to find compiler for CREATE FUNCTION

Hello,

I'm getting the error "5600: Error Creating UDF/XSP/UDM/UDT: no compiler available" in SQL Assistant when trying to create a UDF.

I've got Visual Studio 2005 installed on a Windows 2003 SP1 Server. I've set the environment variables for command line Visual C. I've successfully compiled a small c program via the command line. Any ideas why Teradata doesn't recognise the compiler? Does it only work with VS 2003?

BTW, I'm using the demo version of V2.R6.1

Re: Unable to find compiler for CREATE FUNCTION

I believe the V2R6.1 demo is still looking specifically for Visual C++ / Visual Studio 6.0 registry keys. See this thread for a possible workaround: http://www.teradataforum.com/teradata/20040720_184343.htm

Thanks Fred, that did the trick. Was it documented officially? I've wasted a lot of time on this.

Re: Unable to find compiler for CREATE FUNCTION

Sort of... The help file on the demo CD says you need VS / VC++ 6.0, but does not give details as to why or what you might do if you don't have that exact version available.
