Please can you advise for the below query.

1)AMP can have 1 and only 1 VDisk but can have many Physical Disk -Justify?

Hi Rishi,

As you know teradata is SHARED NOTHING architecture, each amp has its own VDISK space which is managed and control by itself. As this is logical disk space there is no point in having more than one logical space for each amp. Also the mapping of AMP to its VDISK is one to one.

I can add up one more point, if you assume more than 1 VDISK for each amp, output of hasing map algorithm becomes much more complex which is not much appreciated.

As per my knowledge, there is common virtual disk.so each Amp is responsible to manage one portion of space (vdisk) leads to shared nothing architecture

So when can we say Shared nothing arcitecture means?.. Each Amp is going to do operations like DDL,DML ,Aggregation function with its own space of vdisk and with its memory

Please correct me,if my expaination is wrong !!.. This query was asked in interview??
