Access to DBC tables

How are access rights to DBC(dictionary) tables granted to the users? Suppose when a user is created what rights does he have to access the dictionary table views?

does "help database dbc" display all tables, views and Macros information?

How does HELP work on DBC tables?

Re: Access to DBC tables

Hi Leo,
"How are access rights to DBC(dictionary) tables granted to the users?"
By the DBA, typically using PUBLIC rights.

"Suppose when a user is created what rights does he have to access the dictionary table views?"
Any user is automatically part of PUBLIC.

"does "help database dbc" display all tables, views and Macros information?"
Why don't you try it?
Table information is missing unless you're user dbc

"How does HELP work on DBC tables?"
Exactly the same as on any other table.

Re: Access to DBC tables

Dieter,

I was wondering if there is anyway a new user inherits access to DBC views without explicitly being granted by a DBA.I was lead to this misconception when I created a new user and when logged as him,i could do a Help on DBC and it displayed the views in DBC.probably the system on which Iam might already have PUBLIC access on DBC views.

anyways, thanks for your response.
