An oddity regarding compression on TD 13 Express VMWare edition

create table test_compress_1 (pk int, v varchar(10) compress 'x', i int compress 1) ;

create table test_compress_2 (pk int, v varchar(10), i int compress 1) ;

cat TEST.txt

1|x|1

2|y|5

3|z|1

4|x|2

> tdload --TargetWorkingDatabase test_database -f TEST.txt -t test_compress_1 -u dbc -p dbc -h localhost -d "|"

> tdload --TargetWorkingDatabase test_database -f TEST.txt -t test_compress_2 -u dbc -p dbc -h localhost -d "|"

select * from test_compress_1 ;

3,z,2718210

1,x,1210369

4,x,1406977

2,y,2717954

select * from test_compress_2 ;

3,z,1

1,x,1

4,x,2

2,y,5

When I add compression on to the varchar field, then any compression on any int fields after that get screwed up when i load the data in through the tdload utility.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can compress both the int and the varchar field and still allow me to load my data through tdload?

Has anyone reproduced this?  Is it a bug/limitation of varchar compression?

There was a bug early in 13.10 in this area. If you have not updated 13.10 patches for your installation, you should do so.

Thanks for your answer.  Where can I download the patches, I am using a trial version of TD13.

The Express Edition is offered on an "as is" basis.  Patches are available only to customers who have purchased one of the regular licensed editions.
