Date Format for a session

Hi, everyone!

I'm using Business Objects over the Teradata Database and seem to have a problem with dates: when a query with date is passed to the database the date is considered to be a string and therefore Teradata does not scan the necessary partition. E.g. '2011-01-01 00:00:00' is represented as string, not date.

In Oracle the problem is solved by changing the NLS_DATE_FORMAT for the session.

Could you tell me whether there is such an opportunity in Teradata?

Using HELP SESSION I can see there is a parameter "Default Date Format", is there any opportunity to change it using ALTER SESSION or smth. like this?

Thank you in advance!

Andrey.
