Error 2728 - Aborted due to a non-valid reference index on table

Hi,

We do have soft RI implemented in our database.
All of a sudden, we see the failure as "Aborted due to a non-valid reference index on talename" This is error 2728.

Will dropping and recreating the references solve the issue? Please share your experience.

After restoring tables which have RI defined we have seen this error.
If both the referenced and the referencing tables are restored, use
REVALIDATE REFERENCES FOR dbname.tablename  to validate references.
If you continue to see error 2728 then use ALTER TABLE dbname.tablename DROP INCONSISTENT REFERENCES to drop inconsistent constraints.

Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your quick response.

Since I did not have the DROP access to the table, we went to DBAs. Looks like, these statements did not help and at last went to help from Teradata support to get it resolved. And I do not have much insight on this root cause.

Srini,

How was it resolved then?

Sorry, I had no insight to that.
