This post by Ulrich, was where I started out my search on a way to get a summarised report on a complete listing of all the tables and views within a view:
now for whatever reason I wasn't really able to get any of his listed options to work and so i came up with my own program to do this for me:
I've hosted this on github, also note that you don't require python installed for this to work you however do need bteq. This is the kind of report it comes up with:
List of Tables List of Views Size of tables in MB Stats on Tables
Currently it probably won't work if you pass it a complex SQL, however if you pass it a view name it should work out well.
