Fastload BEGIN LOADING issue

Hi Experts,

The below Begin Loading statements in a Fastload script got successfully processed:

.BEGIN LOADING DB.tablename	ERRORFILES DB.tablename_ET, DB.tablename_UT;

However, the next two variations gives the below error:

.BEGIN LOADING DB.tablename
ERRORFILES DB.tablename_ET, DB.tablename_UT
;
.BEGIN LOADING DB.tablename
ERRORFILES DB.tablename_ET, DB.tablename_UT;

"0010 .BEGIN LOADING DB.tablename

**** 06:17:36 Invalid BEGIN LOADING statement

**** 06:17:36 Expected CHECKPOINT or INDICATORS, found:

"

Why it is not allowing ERRORFILES or ; on the next lines when it does allow in the mload. Also, i have seen them on separate lines in other scripts.

Thanks in advance

Re: Fastload BEGIN LOADING issue

Hi,

Based on the Fastload 15.10 manual your multi-line examples are invalid syntax. That manual says:

"If the command has a leading period, it must all be on one line. Commands that begin
with a period cannot span multiple lines."

The fact that this is a restriction/rule in Fastload and not other utilities is (unfortunately) not uncommon. Treat the older utilities (Fastload, Mload etc) as being written to largely different rules. This was one of the drivers for TPT, a mainly unified and consistent syntax base.

Cheers,

Dave

Re: Fastload BEGIN LOADING issue

Thanks Dave for the information.

The other script which I have been looking didn't have period at the starting, so it was on multiple lines.
