Is "eq" a reserved word?

I am unable to make "eq" a table alias:

SELECT

  column1

, column2

, column4

FROM myTable
eq

Is "eq" a reserved word or Teradata sort hand?

Is there away to disable Teradata sort hand so only ANSI SQL is accepted?

Re: Is "eq" a reserved word?

There are old keywords which shouldn't be used anymore but still are reserved, e.g. RETRIEVE (instead of SELECT).

And there used to be some 2 or 3 character abbreviations like CT (CREATE TABLE), INS (INSERT).

EQ/NE/GT/GE/LT/LE is also outdated, but you'll still find it instead of a simple =/<>/>/etc., looks like Assembler to me :-)

There's no way to switch off that old deprecated syntax, but double quotes allow any kind of name:

FROM myTable "eq"
