Meta Data Services using views within DBC

Can someone please let me know why Meta Data Services needs to create views within DBC? Why can these views not be installed in the MDS database itself? Has anyone been able to install these views without granting access to 'Public'?

Re: Meta Data Services using views within DBC

MDS does not require the MDS Views in DBC if it can establish a UTF16 connection to Teradata. To extract Teradata metadata MDS needs access to DBC. The MDS Views are furnished so that you don't have to provide a Teradata user logon that has permission into DBC.

If you don't want the MDS Views to give access to Public you can modify the mdsviews.dat file in the install directory and re-create the views.
