ODBC Connection issue to Teradata

Hi,

I have a Informatica job that connects to Teradata. However, off-late there have been job failures pertaining to connection issues. Please see the excerpt from log below:-

10:25:25: READER_1_1_1> RR_4036 Error connecting to database [

10:25:25: [Teradata] [Unix System Error] 145 Unable to get catalog string.

10:25:25: Database Driver Error...

10:25:25: Function Name: Connect

10:25:25: Database Driver Error...

10:25:25: Function Name: Connect

10:25:25: Database Error : Failed to connect to database using user [USER_45] and connection string [tdd01].].

Surprisingly, the job executes successfully when re-submitted.

Also, when I try to connect thru the unix command-prompt using

bteq

with the same userid (USER_45), it takes almost > 2.5 mins to connect. But interestingly, it connects in a jiffy thru SQL Assistant (with same id).

Can anyone please give any pointers as to the root cause for this issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: ODBC Connection issue to Teradata

Might be an issue with network name resolution (DNS) from the Unix server, causing "COP discovery" to take excessively long.
