SQL error code 3807 when inserting data into a newly created table

I am using Teradata CLIv2 to programmatically create and insert data into a table but ran into an unexpected error.

Here's the create query:

CREATE TABLE MYTABLE (COL1 CHAR(10) NOT NULL) PRIMARY INDEX (COL1)

It ran successfully.

The next step in the same program is to insert data:

USING (COL1 CHAR(10)) INSERT INTO MYTABLE(COL1) VALUES(:COL1)

It aborted with the error:

3807: Object 'MYTABLE' does not exist

I used the Teradata SQL Assistant utility to verify that indeed the table was created in the database but don't know why this table is not recognized during INSERT.

Any help or idea would be greatly appreciated!
