Server not found or unavailable

Hello,

I cannot connect to SQL Server. An error message: 'Server not found or unavailable'. Who can provide a solution?

-First you must gather basic information about the database engine.

-Confirm the instance of the SQL Server Database Engine is installed and running.

-Logon to the computer hosting the instance of SQL Server.

-Start SQL Server Configuration Manager. (Configuration Manager is automatically installed on the computer when SQL Server is installed. Instructions on starting Configuration Manager vary slightly by version of SQL Server and Windows. For any other help , see here: http://www.mssqlserver.repair/

Hi,

 

Sounds like a configuration/network issue.

 

Check the ip address/dns name that you're using in your connection profile..

 

Can you 'ping' the SQL server system using that value? If not, that is your issue.

 

Also, what tool are you using to try and connect?
