TABLE SIZE

Recently I had to transfer tables from our production Teradata system to the development system. When I transferred the data to several tables with the exact same DDL, the table size was dramatically smaller. The production tables are around 2 years old and get changes daily. Anyone have any idea why I would see such large changes in the size of the tables?

Re: TABLE SIZE

"dramatically smaller", 100 GB to 50GB or 100MB to 50MB?
If those are small tables, then it might be due to the overhead of the table header per AMP.

Re: TABLE SIZE

There was one table that was 1TB in size. I pulled 30% (expecting around 300GB) and it came in at about 150 GB. All the data was there. Neither source nor destination table had secondary indices and the DDL was identical.

Re: TABLE SIZE

I know you said the DDL was identical but might want to check for fallback between the two environments.
