Currently I am working for a service based vendor organization.
We are planning to have TeraData 14 VMware edition as our test and Dev environments for one of our clients. Could you please help me to highlight the drawbacks or limitations while using this edition in real time.
Thanks in Advance
I am from mainframes background, so bit alien to installation. I have successfully installed VMware player and Teradata express. But whenever I start studio express from VMware, it asks me to establish connection. For which it asks me DSN and User and Password. What values should I give so that I can see the tables and start practicing queries on it.
Limitations of TD Express on VMware Player are pretty much limited to the inability to patch to the latest Teradata patch level and performance. They are all 2 AMP/2 Disk configurations and will be slowed down by running on VMware Player and whatever limitations the compter you are using has. Otherwise, it performs like a real Teradata system.
Thanks for replying, got it connected, working fine. I am able to use Teradata Studio Express with Teradata Express. One more question, where can I find other utilities for Teradata like SQL Assitant, TPT, Multiload and fastload so that I can use with Teradat Express.
Thanks in advance

I got the same "Unable to connect" error as what haribabutd got a week ago. My VMware image is TDExpress14.0.3_Sles10 4GB.
Any word on when a 14.10 image will be available? Also, do most people run VMware or the Eclipse plug-in? thx
