Re: Teradata Express 14.0 for VMware now available

I am using Express to test SAS/ACCESS for Teradata.

The first step in installing the SAS components in Teradata, is to run the DIPGLOB script.

But, DIPGLOB is not on the list of DIP utilities:

 1. DIPERR     - Error Messages

 2. DIPDEM     - UDF/UDT/XSP/SPL Macros

 3. DIPRSS     - ResUsage Tables

 4. DIPVIEWS   - System Views

 5. DIPOLH     - Online Help

 6. DIPSYSFE   - System FE Macros

 7. DIPACR     - Access Rights

 8. DIPCRASH   - CrashDumps Database

 9. DIPRUM     - ResUsage Views/Macros

10. DIPCAL     - Calendar Tables/Views

11. DIPCCS     - Client Character Sets

12. DIPOCES    - Cost Profiles

13. DIPUDT     - UDT Macros

14. DIPSYSFNC  - System Functions

15. DIPSQLJ    - SQLJ Views/Procedures

16. DIPPWRSTNS - Password Restrictions

17. DIPRCO     - Reconfig

18. DIPTDWM    - TDWM Configuration

19. DIPSTATS   - Automated Stats Mgmt

20. DIPALL     - All of the above

21. DIPPDCR    - PDCR Tables/Views

22. DIPACC     - Access Logging

23. DIPPATCH   - Stand-alone patches

Is this a limitation in Express ?    Is there another way to run DIPGLOB ?

Re: Teradata Express 14.0 for VMware now available

Here is the procedure (in brief, please refer to Teradata Utilities manuals for more details including DBSCONTROL):

1.            Enable the DIPGLOP menu item

                -              Start DBSSONTROL

                -              Enable display of internal flags:    "m i = true"

                -              Set internal flag 263 " DisplayDIPGLOPMenu" to TRUE and write:    "m i 263 = true" followed by "w"

                -              Display internal flags to confirm setting, look for #263= TRUE:   "d i"

                -              Disable display of internal flags:   "m i = false"

2.            Run DIPGLOP

                -              Start DIP

                -              Enter DBC password

                -              Choose DIPGLOP from menu (#27 on Teradata 14.10)

3.            Restart Teradata after DIPGLOP

Then proceed with installing and configuring SAS In-Database components.

Re: Teradata Express 14.0 for VMware now available

It looks like there is only 259 internal flags available ?

  258. NLBGroupRowsByAMP = 0 ( 0/1 = Disabled/Enabled )   *defaulted*

  259. ARCSaveBLCStatus = FALSE (default FALSE)

Enter a command, HELP, or QUIT:

m i 263 = true

Value is out of range for Internal field! Valid range is 1 to 259.

Re: Teradata Express 14.0 for VMware now available

Hi,

Is there any option to start teradata similar to Teradata service control in Teradata12.0. ?

Kindly let me know about this option ?

Thanks in advance

i assume that you're talking about a version running in a native windows environment vs via vmware player. is that correct. all recent versions of express run via vmware player.

Re: Teradata Express 14.0 for VMware now available

Hi,

There is one thing to clarify. After the liscense term period (90 days), should I back up and copy database objects like tables from prior-downloaded vm image to new one or just download another image to continue to use the old one?

Many thanks

Yoshito

Re: Teradata Express 14.0 for VMware now available

The image Teradata supplies is VMware Player format. It cannot be run in it's current form on ESXi.

It has been done, but I cannot help you. Remember the license is for Test and Dev only.
