Teradata Manager - No Profiles

Hi

I installed Teradata Manager, accepting all the defaults during installation. I was able to login to the Teradata Manager right after the installation without any issues. But, When I try to access Teradata Manager, I receive the following error:

Fatal error: No profiles found for user "dbcmanager"

I get this error once I click on the Teradata Manager, ever before the login prompt. The user dbcmanager has the profile "TeradataManager" assigned to it. But, I'd guess, that this error occurs even before the current profile for the dbcmanager is being verified.

In the default NCR folder, I do have my TDPId listed in the profiles folder.

Any help on why I get this error and how to over come this?

Thanks.

Re: Teradata Manager - No Profiles

Have you run the utility "Database Setup" from Teradata Manager menu?

You must run this utility first, before trying to use Teradata Manager. It will setup Teradata Manager environment, creating a user called "dbcmanager" and some additional stuff.

Once you have done with this, you are all set to connect to Teradata Manager.
I suggest you to use the user "dbcmanager" created by "Database Setup", which already have a DEFAULT profile assigned to it.

I hope this helps!

Re: Teradata Manager - No Profiles

Thanks Fabio

After my first login to the Teradata Manager, I changed the authorization to 2 different users other than the defualt user created by Teradata Manager. That was the reason, I was not able to login and I received the above fatal error. Now that being said, I logged in through those users to whom I gave access before after first install, and then, set those authorization back to the defualt user as before. Ugly way.. but managed to get back to the defaults.

Thanks for your help anyway.

What are the contents of your host file?

Re: Teradata Manager - No Profiles

?

For Windows, the host file is located at:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

And it's contents should be:
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.10.30 db1 db1cop1

where db1 is the database name. You can change it to your own db name.

Re: Teradata Manager - No Profiles

We have installed Teradata V2R6.2 on Windows machine. Now on running Database Setup and providing the following information (in the WIndows GUI):
Database Name : db1
Super User: DBC
Super User Password: dbc
Console Password: dbc
Set up DB for Teradata Manager: Yes
Perm Space: 100 MB
DB Type: MPRAS
Spool Space: Same as Parent

Create a Teradata Manager User: Yes
User Name: DBCMANAGER
User Account String: $H-DBC-MANAGER
User Password: dbcmngr
Perm Space: 100MB
Spool Space: Same as Parent
Give user privilages to run: Selected all options in combo
Migrate TDQM Database: Yes
On proceeding further, there are some errors in the log file, while the user is created and most of the operations succeed. We want to eliminate the errors, more specifically the error while creating the table TDWMUpsertConfigurations, because when creating TDWM we get errors against this table.

could you please help me how to eliminate the errors.

Re: Teradata Manager - No Profiles

Something odd happen to our administrative user. After a backup the user was unable to connect using Teradata Manager with a no profile found message. Profiles did indeed exist in the dbcmngr tables. I looked at the Monitor right using the display function on TD Administrator and it looked correct. I regranted the monitor access and it started working.

I'm not exactly sure what was wrong, probably something with our backup process caused the problem.
