Teradata password expiry extention-what went wrong here ?

Hi,

We have a setting at profile level that the TD passwords should expire after 90 days. We had a situation in which we wanted to extend the limit by 5 more days this time. So, we went ahead and make the 90 figure to 95 assuming that it would expire after 95 days. however, to our surprise, the 90 days expiration was due today and the password expired whereas we were expecting it to expire after 5 more days. What did we do wrong here ?

Are you sure you modified the correct, i.e. the user's profile?

Yes, Diether. We modified the correct profile. PFA a screenshot from TD admin. This is to our surprise also. I know you can also do the same by updating column - Expirepassword the table - DBC.SecurityDefaultsV, but this would be the case when we want to do it globally and this requires TD restart. But, in our case, we want to do this only for a specific group of users hence it modified the profile. Does this also require a TD restart ?

Currently Expirepassword in DBC.SecurityDefaultsV set to 0 which is the default when TD was set up

for us, we have not changed it.

Hi Samir,

MODIFY PROFILE doesn't require a restart, otherwise profiles would be useless.

Strange...
