I am loading a big size table with multiple insert/select one after the other (from differernt source tables ).Is this a good idea to collect stats in between insert/select to fasten up the process ? Or does it not matter at all and would be increasing total load process ?
i know that collecting stats after load is complete is advisable to improve data selection response time but my question is for during data insert phase.
You already answered your question :-)
Stats are important for evaluating all those possible ways to retrieve the answer set for a complex multi-table query.
But how many possible ways exists for doing an insert into a single table?
There's no reason to collect those stats on the target table of an insert/select.
I wanted yo hear an expert opinion as i'm not collecting it currently..
you stamped my belief on the issue....
