setting Account strings at session level

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a basic question... here goes. I am having some troble with accounting strings. I have created a user with several account strings as follows:

CREATE USER "TEST_USER" FROM "USERS" AS PERM = 1E9, password = "*******",

     STARTUP = ('$M$RMPUS&S&D&H', '$L$RMPUS&S&D&H', '$C$RMPUS&S&D&H', '$L$RMPUS&S&D&H'),

     PROFILE = pRMAPUSER;

So it set up for a default of Medium priority. When this user tries to change their account string, it fails every time:

SET SESSION ACCOUNT = '$L$RMPUS&S&D&H' FOR SESSION;

I get the error "An invalid account has been specified" every time.

To check myself, I went thru the example in the Teradata Warehouse Administration example, and it fails with the same error. From the Users, Account and Accounting chapter page 2-15:

CREATE USER tfact07

FROM USERS AS

PERM = 1E9,

PASSWORD = ******* ,

ACCOUNT = ( '$M_9038_&S&D&H','$H0+EDUC&S&D&H','$M1$LOAD&S&D&H','$M_9038');

I logged in with that user and submitted the set session command documented on page 2-17:

SET SESSION ACCOUNT = '$H0+EDUC&S&D*H' FOR SESSION;

This gets the same error "An invalid account has been specified". What am I missing here?

 Thanks much!

A few questions: What release are you running? If it is td14.10 or above, what are the Extended Object Names settings? What is the document number on the first page of the reference manual you are refering to?
