Teradata Express 12 BTEQWIN .LOGON command error

I've been trying to ".LOGON" to the bteqwin query manager window and I keep failing.
Password is an empty string, the default for "tduser" for the fresh install of TD12 Express.
Unfortunately I seem to be having no joy, ideas anybody? This is what I wrote...:

Re: Teradata Express 12 BTEQWIN .LOGON command error

FYI, I have amended C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
to have the line:
127.0.0.1 localhost localtdcop1 dbc dbccop1 demo1099cop1

and this has been to no effect.

Re: Teradata Express 12 BTEQWIN .LOGON command error

Try the following:

.LOGON localtd/tduser,

SELECT CURRENT_DATE:

.QUIT 0;

COP1 is required in the HOSTS file for your Teradata Express entry but is not required as part of the hostid (tdpid) when connecting in your utilities (e.g. BTEQ, FastExport, FastLoad, MutliLoad).

Hope this helps.

I also noticed that you need to select an ASCII charset otherwise the logon will also fail.
