If I understand correctly, V2R5, V2R6 are various version of Teradata, there are other versions like Teradata 12, Teradata 13, my question is why were the earlier versions called as V2R5..R6 etc, and the newer ones are just called as Teradata 12 or 13.
Would it be correct if I say Teradata 12 as V2R12. ?
Thanks in advance.
I believe there are lot of changes and major releases after V2R5 and V2R6. Usually It is said or talked as TD12 or TD13 and not V2R12.
Actually TD12 was originally going to be called V2R7 before the new versioning scheme was implemented. The new scheme is based on the reckoning that, although V2R1 was the first release of Teradata for a Unix platform, it was actually the 6th major Teradata software release when you count the preceding 5 releases for the old DBC1012 platform.
