During the performance analysis in cognos reports accessing Teradata, we have identified a large number of accesses to the Teradata catalog (DBC Tables and lots of Help columns). Apparently these accesses are not necessary and how these reports take on average 30 seconds, these approaches make much difference, can double or triple the reports response time. After a little research, I found some recommendations to change the ODBC and include the NO HELP DATABASE option:
