Presto-admin SSH error

We’re installing Presto using presto-admin on standalone VMs and are running into issues with installing Java on the nodes, but it appears to be an ssh issue rather than Java-specific. The error we’re getting is “Needed to prompt for a connection or sudo password, but input would be ambiguous in parallel mode”. We specify the password interactively using the -I switch.

There is a limitation in their environment that only allows ssh from node1 to node2 as the same user on both sides. Due to their network security rules, we are unable to ssh from node1 to node2 as root – we have to ssh as a different user then use sudo to elevate permissions. However it appears that using presto admin, it uses sudo to ssh rather than ssh then sudo – is that the case? If so, is there a way to solve this problem given the security above?

This is for presto admin 2.1 on OLE 7.

Thanks

Re: Presto-admin SSH error

Try ./presto-admin <command> rather than sudo ./presto-admin <command>; that should use the user that is running presto-admin, rather than root.  As of presto-admin 2.x, sudo is no longer needed to run the presto-admin program.
