I'm looking to get more details on Teradata usage on AWS. How can we easily scale up (or scale down) a Teradata system on AWS ? Is it the same process than adding nodes on Premise or is it easier ?
On the currrent version of Teradata on AWS you have to launch exactly what you need. There is no adding nodes or additional resources on existing instances. If you wanted a bigger system after an initial deployment you would need to do a backup of your existing database to some location such as S3 storage, then launch a new instance of the desired size and then restore the data to the new instance of Teradata.
Ok thanks for this information.
It is a little odd as we don't take advantages of the Cloud flexibility. Do you have a roadmap to have such possibility on AWS ?
I have seen your post randomly, just to update. Now you can resize or scale up and scale down your Teradata instance on AWS. This feature is started from Release: 03.00.00.00 and above. The process is easy now. For, the detailed steps on how to resize your teradata instance, please refer the latest Teradata Database on AWS getting started guide.
