I am trying to get on VMWARE TD. I have VMWARE player up and running with windows XP installed. But I m trying to install a SLES_10 TD on linux. I downloaded the Teradata express for VMWARE from
But when I extract the .exe it just creates a folder TDE012 with normal executable file for TD express. There is no .vmx files as such which I can open it via VMWARE player. Also do I need to install LINUX separately on VMWARE player as I did for windows XP. I would appreciate if anyone gives detailed steps.
What you describe is very strange. The downloadable should be a zip archive containing a regular VMWare VM image, i.e., including .vmx file. There should not be any .exe file in the archive.
I have downloaded it from the mail I have received
The download files are between 2GB and 4GB in size with a minimum of 10 GB of disk space required, so please plan accordingly. Additional space will be needed based upon the amount of data added to the database.
4GB Capacity Download: http://www.teradata.com/
Attaching what I have downloaded from the link above and what I get unzipping the .exe file
That doesn't look anything like what you should have gotten. There should not be any .exe files. The only object in the ZIP archive should be a directory named something like "sles10_TD1310", which contains the .vmx file and virtual disk images.
