Import not allowing to change the datatype

Hey

Perhaps this is already been discussed, but I could not find any info so have to ask.

Very simple problem really...

Have a txt-file that looks roughly like this

cust_id;turnover;type

123456789098765432;80,0000;text1

234567890987654321;44,1234;text2

my regional settings for the computer state that the decimal-separator is comma.

I want to upload a new table to my db with importing a txt-file. Using the wizard i get to the point where I can define the import details. However, the system forces the second column to be VARCHAR(8) when I would want to have it actually DECIMAL(4,4) for example... The data does import with varchar as well no problem, but I really would rather have it in proper type from the start to save me from having to start playing around with CASTs at a later stage.

Cheers,
kimmo

Re: Import not allowing to change the datatype

Studio is not able to handle the localized numeric value. We have an improvement open in this area.

I don't have a timeframe to give you. We are currently in planning phase for next release and I have added your comments to the JIRA issue.
