How to handle Error Code 6706: The string contains an untranslatable character

We are using TPT in Informatica to load the data from progress database (via ODBC). We are reading source as iso8859-1 (latin) and writing to UNICODE table with UTF-8 as target.

we have found that there are few columns which has values having charcters that are not part of iso8859-1. while loading into table with UNICODE char set, those rows are being rejected with Error Code 6706. When we change the table defination to use LATIN char set, we don't get any rejection but those non iso8859-1 charcters are being replaced by Hex 1A.

Now, our target has to be UNICODE so that it can support different sources like China, Japan, EU, Americas etc.

Is there anyway to avoid rejections in data loading occuring due to rows that have non iso8859-1 charcters?

I checked data in table created in latin with translate chk funtion. The issue is because of non iso8859-1 charcters which are replaced by Hex 1A, and teradata is not able to insert Hex 1A into unicode.
