Installing tools on Ubuntu

How do I install the tools on Ubuntu?  Why can't Teradata just provide this as a single-line apt-get command instead of forcing developers to spend an hour struggling with this?

I've tried all of this, but at the end I still cannot run tbuild:

sudo apt-get install alien dpkg-dev debhelper build-essential

tar -xzvf tdicu__linux_indep.15.10.00.01-1.tar.gz

cd tdicu

sudo alien tdicu-15.10.00.01-1.noarch.rpm --scripts

sudo dpkg -i tdicu_15.10.00.01-2_all.deb

Setting up tdicu (15.10.00.01-2) ...

updating /etc/csh.login and /etc/profile

Re: Installing tools on Ubuntu

Unfortunately Ubuntu is not a support platform for the Teradata Utilities so your trying to install in a disto that is not supported.   SUSE and RedHat are the only two supported distros (centos/fedora which are based of red hat aren't supported either).   You can get it to work but your going to need to manually install any and all dependencies that might be needed to get it to work.
