Loading a file created in FastExport using fastload or btqmain

Hi,

I want to know what is the file structure of the FastExport. I am running the FastExport utility through Mainframe system.

-->I think the file which is created using the above method has a filler at the beginning of the file.<--

My FastExport query goes some thing like this,

.LOGTABLE LOG_TBL_Name;
.BEGIN EXPORT;
.EXPORT OUTFILE OUTPUTFL ;
Select
Column1 (Integer)
Column2 (Smallint)
Column3 (Integer)
..
..
From Table_Name
where some condition;
.END EXPORT;

.LOGOFF;

Any answers is there a filler added at the beginning of the file created ? If yes how man char?

They are not "filler" they are "presence indicators" Default for FastExport is MODE INDICATOR. That means the record is prefixed with enough bytes to allow one bit for each column to indicate NULL or not.
If you don't want the presence bits, specify MODE RECORD.

Thanks for the information.

I found out the "presence indicator" to be of 2 bytes => PIC S9(1) COMP.
