Multiple Sessions in BTEQ While Exporting Data Not Improving Performance

Was trying to capturing all collect stats statements using show stats in a bteq. Initially, i  run the bteq with one session and realized that bteq was running too slow. Later, thought of increasing sessions from 1 to 10, but, still there was no significant impact in elapsed time of bteq. It took more than an hour just to capture show stats statements results (total stats were 7K).

Does multiple sessions not help in reducing elapsed time of a bteq while exporting.Does opening multiple sessions only help while importing data rather than exporting ?

Re: Multiple Sessions in BTEQ While Exporting Data Not Improving Performance

Hi,

Correct. The multi-session feature of BTEQ only really helps when importing data.

Cheers,
