I am using Bteq to invoke a SQL file from my unix script. The SQL file has a query to update a table. It might update around 10 to 15 records in a table containing 30 million records.
I have been told to add a verification step as a quality measure to verify that i don't change records in excess or in deficit. i.e total records changed = total records - unchanged records. (something like this)
Could anybody tell me whether such an option is available in Teradata? i googled and found that i can use count(*) operator to count the total number for records changed. but i don't know how to proceed with that operation.
please let me know, the usual framework for such an operation. Thanks!
Take a look at ACTIVITYCOUNT keyword in the bteq reference.
