ARCMAIN HELP

I need help archiving about 270GB of data on an external drive. I'm able to run very small archives - I've got 5.5 gig worth files created so far. Any larger archives I've attempted fail with this error:

*** Failure ARC0805:Access Module returned error code 34:

pmunxWBuf: fwrite byte count error (No space left on

device).

I ran an archive on my desktop of 3 large SALES tables (~21 gig). When I tried to copy the file to the external drive which has 500GB of free space, I get this error on Windows:

Cannot copy SALES: There is not enough free disk space.

Delete one or more files to free disk space, and then try again.

Any ideas on the best way to archive a large data set on an external drive?

Thank you,

Moses

Re: ARCMAIN HELP

Hi Moses,
your external drive is probably formatted with FAT32, which limits maximum file size to 4GB.

Re-format using NTFS, but then you might not be able to access it from some older Windows-versions.
