Configure BTEQ.MLOAD,FLOAD,FEXPORT and TPUMP for DEMO CD

Hi,

Enter your logon or BTEQ command:
.logon

.logon
UserId: dbc
Password:
*** CLI error: MTDP: EM_NOHOST(224): name not in HOSTS file or names database.

*** Return code from CLI is: 224
*** Error: Logon failed!

*** Total elapsed time was 13 seconds.

Teradata BTEQ 08.02.00.00 for WIN32. Enter your logon or BTEQ command:

I checked in the manuals for the reason of the error it shows

224 EM_NOHOST Name not in HOSTS file or
names data base.
Explanation: The DBC/1012 name was not found in
the workstation’s hosts file or names data base.
Remedy: Check the DBC/1012 name.

I have not found the path DBC/1012 name in my machine. I have made an entry in W#INDOWS hosts file still i am getting the error.

Any help is highly appreciatable.

Thanks,
Ragu

Database setup wizard is meant for teradata manager setup, you **really** don't have to go there !.

You can use your sql assistant/ Teradata Administrator to login to the teradata database (make sure your db server is up and running first.... you can type net start recond in the command prompt to start the db server) ... there will be already an ODBC dsn with name DemoTDAT which you can use to connect to the db.

Also to connect from bteq, you can type

.logon DemoTDAT/dbc;

it will prompt for password, the default one being dbc.

Once you login through one of these utilities, create users and databases where you can "play" around.

( you can lookup the syntax in the DDL manual, also the Teradata administrator gives you a GUI for creating user/db).

For teradata demo CD, on windows platform you can simply paste followig line in the host file.
