DELIMITER IN DATA

Hello everyone,

Suppose  columns in my table are -

ID integer,

Description varchar(100),

Price decimal (5,2).

Suppose my data row in flat file is like -

101,madeup of sugar,milk and coffee,100.00

should load  ("101" into ID column ,

"madeup of sugar, milk and coffee" into description column ,

                       "100.00" into price column.)

I am using ","(comma) as a delimiter. format vartext.

But unfortunately my 'description' field also contain some commas.

how to load using fastload , multiload?

Thanks in advance..

Re: DELIMITER IN DATA

You will need to change your delimiter character in order to process that data (seems to make sense).

If the comma is the delimiter, then we scan down the input data until we see a comma, and then we assume it is a delimiter.

In TTU14.0 we have added a feature to support "quoted delimited" data and if you want the delimiter character as a comma, and you have a comma as part of the data, then you would need to enclose the field data in quotes.
