What happens to the performance when you load same amount of data into same table on two servers one with 140 vprocs and another with 70 vprocs ? Does both the cases take same time to laod or the one with highest vprocs take less time than the one with less vprocs ??
if those were real systems the one with 140 AMPs would have twice the number of nodes, probably 4 instead of 2. Of course this would result in twice the processing power, CPU/IO.
Now it depends where's the bottleneck, server side/client side/network. Only if the 70 AMP system was saturated the 140 AMP will load faster.
But if this is just a hypothetical question about doubling the number of AMPs on the same system there will hardly be any difference, because total IO/CPU/network bandwith will not change.
Thanks for the quick reply, the one with 140 AMPS we have tera 13 0n it and one with 70 AMPS we have tera 14 on it. When we tried to mload same amount of data (to check the performance of tera 14) tera 13 was faster than tera 14 and I am not sure what caused it and how to find the number of nodes ?
