FastExport script parameters

FastExport script parameters

I have a very basic question – really on behalf of my developers –
We simply want to pass parameters to the FastExport script (ID and PW, and date range).
We have been told that there is no way to pass parameters, instead we need to read the info from a file.
However, we understand that the LOGON command must be the first command line – not allowing the reading of a config file first.

I know that this is a very newbie question.
I’d appreciate any information.
Thanks!

Re: FastExport script parameters

In UNIX, a common solution is to use a "here document" and let the shell do the substitution.

Or you can dynamically build statements in a file and use .RUN to include them in your FastExport.

Sorry - I didn't specify the platform - we are implementing under Windows.

Re: FastExport script parameters

We have the same scenario. Windows environment, we can't hard code the password in the fast export script, and we can't have it in another file on disk (even if it's a temp file that is deleted when the script ends). We are calling the fast export script from a Perl script. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
