Fexp Character translation error

Hi All,

I'm new to TeraData and all its utilities. I trying to export data from a table to an output file.

I'm using Teradata 12.0 Express Edition on Windows XP SP2;

The contents of fexp script file (Fin_Accts_first_Query.txt) is as follows

.LOGTABLE DWH.Accts_TBL;
.LOGON 127.0.0.1/dbc,dbc;
.BEGIN EXPORT;
.EXPORT OUTFILE C:\TEMP\TDExc\Accts_Mod.txt;
SELECT * from FINANCIAL.ACCTS;
.END EXPORT;
.LOGOFF;

and I'm executing script file using the "fexp -c ascii -N 1 -M 2 -s ON C:\TEMP\TDExc\Accts.out" command.

the data in the output file is not properly formated (sample output shown below) where as when I browse FINANCIAL.ACCTS table using Teradata Adminsitrator I see about 20 records with proper formating

 Ê SV0000000013626053&Y

 ðÊ CC4561143213626724‚
 9Ê CC4561143213624894о

....................

Is the issue because of the -c argument that I'm using with fexp command or something else. Please let me know how to fix this issue

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Karan

Re: Fexp Character translation error

You would want to check your table definitions to see if there are any Unicode columns. Chances are that there are some ... in which case exporting as ascii may not be a good idea.
