Oracle to teradata using informatica

My requirement is to load huge volume of data from oracle to teradata without having a flat file in middle using informatica. The teradata table is an empty one.

Could someone tell me if relational connection will suffice my requirement?
If not is it possible to use fastlaod connection to extract data from oracle and dump into teradata directly?

Re: Oracle to teradata using informatica

Not really my field, but I remember some folks getting a named fifo (aka pipe) to work with informatica so that it didn't create flat files ...

Re: Oracle to teradata using informatica

Yes. We can use Pipe option for this.

While configuring loader connection in Infa uncheck the "IsStage" option and
Change the Checkpoint value to 0

AND

In the Loader Script(Control File gen by Infa) give the data file name as

\\.\Pipe\

Where outputfilename is the same name given in the Outputfilename session property in Infa.

Re: Oracle to teradata using informatica

the path didnt appear in the previous post because of the usage of less than operator

file name is

\\.\Pipe\outputfilename

where \\.\Pipe is the windows special path where all the pipes will be created.

Pipe will be FIFO buffer and the data will be streamed to Loader file without storing
the entire content in a flat file.

There could be a prformance hit when you use Pipes since sometimes MLOAd might be starved of input data.
