Overview

This release of the Teradata Developer Tools for Visual Studio focuses primarily on support for Teradata Database 16.0 and an assortment of fixes and minor improvements.

New Features

  • All passwords used in queries are now masked when stored in the Teradata History.
  • Column properties have been added for Storage Format and Inline Length.
  • Support for the JSON and DATASET data types has been added.
  • The new Teradata Database 16.0 keywords and functions have been added.
  • The application now honors the system caret 'Ease of use' width setting.

Bug fixes

  • The clipboard is now cleared when you copy an empty cell.
  • Column Properties are now displayed correctly when connected to Teradata 15.10.
  • All characters will now paste correctly into Microsoft Word after a Copy operation.
  • XML data is now displayed in text format rather than with embedded symbols such as <.
  • A procedure containing "Case (xx) When ... End" will no longer be reported as invalid.
  • A memory leak that occured when a query contained many statements has been fixed.
  • User properties can now be displayed when you are using the 'X' views.

Conclusion

This tool will allow you to develop the SQL required for your applications without leaving the Visual Studio environment. However it should be noted that the tool is not a replacement for SQL Assistant or Teradata Studio. These other tools still have more/different functionality than the Teradata Developer Tools.

Re: Teradata Developer Tools for Visual Studio 16.00

Hi Mike, trying this out, however getting an error when using the explorer tree and expanding a database:

[Teradata Database] [5628] Column StorageFormat not found in dbc.ColumnsV.

Previously I had 15.10 extension. Now 16.00.

Connecting to TD 14.10 via 15.10 TTU.

Edit:

Ignore above. After an update on Visual Studio the error went away.
