Teradata export by fexp.

Hello

I am wondering if someone could give me some tips. Is it possible to export a table as a comma seperated file(csv) directly by fexp.exe? I wanna get rid of the teradata format that always add "n" -- the number of bytes -- which then followed by n bytes of record data.

The default teradata format is

2aa3bbb [here 2 bytes of a and 3 bytes of b]
1a4bbbb [here ` byte of a and 4 bytes of b]
3aaa2bb [here 3 bytes of a and 2 bytes of b]

But I wanna get my exporting give a format as follows directly:

aa,bbb
a,bbbb
aaa,bb

If it is possible then it would save my time lot (reprocessing GIGA bytes of data).

Re: Teradata export by fexp.

hi mahib,

In fastexport script within ".export" command you have option to set format & mode for eg:-

.export outfile filename
format text
mode record;

once this is done write your SQL as follows:-

SELECT colname1||','||colname2||','||.... FROM tablename.

Probably this will solve your query.
