eradata has deployed an Active Data Warehouse platform for SmarTone-Vodafone, a provider communications services in Hong Kong and Macau.
According to Teradata, the platform implemented for SmarTone-Vodafone by Teradata Professional Services is based on Teradata's Active Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) 5550 platform, Teradata's massively parallel processing nodes, a computer system optimized to execute multiple processes simultaneously.
Teradata claims that SmarTone-Vodafone's Active EDW supports about 3,000 business-user view elements generated for business users to perform their daily business operation. In addition, an executive dashboard enables managers to continually monitor the company's critical success factors.
Stanley Lam, general manager for Hong Kong and South China at Teradata, said: "The powerful Teradata database, with its high performance and high scalability, is the foundation for the success of SmarTone-Vodafone's active enterprise data warehouse. As an experienced data warehouse user, SmarTone-Vodafone is leveraging business intelligence right across the company. The greatest beneficiaries of the new Teradata solution, however, are the users who can now mine data at the atomic level of information."
A powerful trend started by Teradata customers and Teradata Engineering is known in the industry today by the common terms "pervasive BI," "operational BI," and "real-time BI." Teradata’s strategy for delivering pervasive, operational and real-time business intelligence is known as Active Enterprise Intelligence™. The backbone for this strategy is the range of Active Data Warehousing™ solutions we provide through our product and service offerings.
An active data warehouse (ADW) is a data warehouse implementation that supports near-time or near-real-time decision making. It is featured by event-driven actions triggered by a continuous stream of queries (generated by people or applications) against a broad, deep granular set of enterprise data.
