Does V2R6 support Arabic data?

Hi,
Has anyone worked on Arabic data?
I wanted to know if V2R6 has any default feature which supports loading Arabic characters directly into Target tables.
I am aware of earlier versions using UDFs to load the arabic data...just wanted to know if the newer versions support it by default.

Thanks in advance,
Amit.

Re: Does V2R6 support Arabic data?

Teradata Database supports 5 Server Character Sets:

LATIN
UNICODE
GRAPHIC
KANJI1
KANJISJIS

Teradata also supports Client Character sets (a.k.a. Session Character Set) like:

UTF8
UTF16
ASCII
KANJISJIS_0S

Session Characters are mapped to Server Characters by the Teradata database.

Therefore conceptually one can create a "Site-Defined Client Character Set" as described in Chapter 5 of "International Character Set Support" manual. That said, I recommend using Unicode Session Character set and map Arabic Data to Unicode on the Client/Application side.
