Holding on to a db connection in a unix session

Hi,

I'm new to Teradata. Coming from a UDB environment. With udb I can open a unix session and get a db connection and it will stay active. I can then submit multiple queries from the unix prompt by simply typing
$db2 "select count(*) from tab1"

Is there a way to do the same with bteq?

Thanks,
DOZA

You can run BTEQ in "interactive mode", (just as you can the db2 command). But there's nothing in Teradata directly equivalent to db2's persistent background connection (db2bp).
