DataLabs: Can data lab see another data labs objects

Hi

Can a data lab see another another data labs objects within the same lab group ?

e.g. MyLabgroup is a lab group, and contains labs mylab1 and mylab2.  Can we create a view in mylab2 that references a table in mylab1 ?

We need to grant: grant select on mylab1 to mylab2 with grant option; however this needs to be run by the lab group creator MyLabgroup, and don't know the password.  I was able to change the password for MyLabgroup and run the grant, however then can't add any users or roles to the lab group or labs, as password has changed, and get the error "The UserId, Password or Account is invalid." under the request tab, and don't know what the original password is.

I expect data labs are independent of each other and can't see each others objects, even within the same lab group, but would like to know if this is the case for sure.

Cheers

Steven

Hi,

A data lab is "just" a database. And with the appropriate rights access can be granted between databases.

BUT - it is a good habit NOT to allow this to data labs. This can open all kind of issues including etablishing a shadow IT. You create dependencies which can become very difficult to manage etc...

It is good to have data labs but you also need to control them....
