Teradata Community Guidelines

This is a place for you to discuss our products, services, industry, and your community. We want the Teradata Community to become a great destination for people to ask and answer questions and get help from other Teradata users. The Community Guidelines are meant to set the tone of the conversation and to make clear the ground rules for participating on all of our social and online communities.

Everyone is essential in an online community. Without you, there wouldn’t be a community. By visiting often and participating, you not only add to the user-created knowledge base, but you also encourage others to do the same. If you come with your toughest questions, you’ll probably be able to find someone else that has the same problem or can point you in the right direction. If you’re able to find a solution that works for you, you can add your own insights and experience. Chances are you may have an answer that someone else has been seeking. Everyone wins.

Remember that online communities should be fun, friendly, informative, and appropriate for everyone. Everyone participating on our online community is asked to follow these guidelines:

Respect everyone

A community that is considerate of one another is a great way to ensure great conversation. Please be polite and treat everyone with respect, including Teradata, and our team. We encourage an open dialogue, but require that participants remain courteous and respectful at all times. Please avoid any language that is abusive, intimidating, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable. This also includes having a tone that is consistently critical, derogatory, or otherwise negative. If we see any of the above, we will exercise our right to edit or remove any post that violates these guidelines. We can also limit or suspend the access of any participant who violates these guidelines.

Keep it clean

Keep your posts free of profanity and obscenity. All kinds of people come to our social media communities, and we want everyone to feel comfortable.

Don’t misinform or mislead

Honesty is the best policy! We will remove any comments that make false or unsubstantiated allegations.

No solicitation or marketing

Our social and online communities aren’t the place to market your business or sell your services. Let’s focus on sharing Teradata related ideas and questions in this space. Please do not use these forums to submit or publish any marketing communication, or to advertise or solicit for any business or enterprise. Direct links to other commercial websites are inappropriate for our Teradata Community conversations. Those postings will be removed, and can result in the suspension of your access to these services.

Don’t spam

We will entertain all legitimate comments, but we won’t tolerate spam, excessive commenting (commenting multiple times in succession within the same post), or cross-posting (providing the same comment in multiple online platforms or threads).

Don’t break the law

Illegal content or behavior is not allowed. Please don’t link or post any copyrighted or pornographic material, and don’t engage in behaviors like harassment, impersonation, intimidation or abuse. Teradata is not responsible for any use of material posted by users.

Employees

If you’re an employee of Teradata we’d love to hear from you, but we want you to fully disclose your affiliation; please identify yourself as a Teradata team member whenever participating in the discussion.

Support

If you have any questions or concerns specifically related to your own Teradata account, product or service, please contact Teradata directly.

Report Violations

Community participants themselves do the best monitoring of a community. If you see any offensive, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate content (including posts, pictures and videos), please click on the “Report Inappropriate Content” link within the message. Teradata will not discuss one user’s actions or account with any other user. That means we won’t tell the user who filed the report, but it also means we cannot tell you what action we’ve taken.

The last resort

Although we would really rather not, at our sole discretion, Teradata will warn, suspend, and if necessary permanently ban commenter’s that continue to ignore, flaunt or disregard these guidelines. The moderators and community managers will use their discretion to help keep everyone on track and adhering to these rules.

Violation of these Community Guidelines or Terms of Use may result in the suspension or termination of your access to these services. If your account is suspended, you will not be able to sign in, but will instead receive a message indicating your account status.

Remember…

Remember to always have fun, get involved, and help other community members out. After all, we built this community for all of YOU!
