MEDIA ID IN BACKUP

Hi,

We are restoring data from our old backup and we need to ask to insert tapes evrytime when it does not present in library. Can we see which all media ID (tapes) belongs to backup which was taken one spaceific day lets say 10th Feb 2017?

Any netbackup cmd for it  apart from Searching in catalog ?

Thanks - Sandeep.

"bpimagelist" command might get you the information that you are looking for. I haven't used this command with tapes but i think it does report on removable media.
Check the various parameters (-media ,-d, -idonly etc...) that can be passed to this command to get the desired output and see if it matches with output from your current process.

Re: MEDIA ID IN BACKUP

Hello Abhishek & Sandeep,

Using bpimagelist by itself is a valid option but is much the same as doing a GUI catalog search eg. searching between specific date & time parameters (-d & -e).

If you are running a lot of different large jobs and are looking for the specific media that was used for a Teradata DSA BAR job (assuming we are talking about DSA-DSE) you can use the DSC command query_backupids to get DSA to gather the backup ids for a specific job, you will need to find the execution id and use the "-v" switch for old runs, then run the list_query_backupids to get the list of backup ids.

Then with you can use bpimagelist with the list of backupids to figure out what media the images resides (might need to play with the output/view options to make it more human readable)
